CyberVid is for public videos you own or have permission to save. Respect creators & copyright.
Guide • Rights

Downloading is not the same as owning.

A file can be technically accessible while the copyright and other rights still belong to someone else.

CyberVid is a technical utility. It does not grant a licence to content. Before downloading or reusing a video, separate the question “Can I save this file?” from “Am I allowed to use it this way?”

Who may hold rights?

The person who recorded or created a video may hold copyright, but videos can also contain music, performances, artwork, trademarks or other material controlled by different rights holders. A creator’s ability to post something on a platform does not necessarily grant everyone else permission to redistribute it elsewhere.

Permission depends on what you plan to do

Keeping a copy for an authorized internal purpose is different from reposting it publicly, placing it in an advertisement, selling it, editing it into another work or using it to imply endorsement. The more public or commercial the use, the more important it is to verify rights.

Attribution is not always permission

Crediting the original creator can be respectful, but attribution alone does not automatically replace permission. A rights holder may still control copying, adaptation, distribution or commercial use.

Public does not mean public domain

A publicly viewable TikTok post is not automatically free of copyright. “Public” usually describes access to the post, not the legal status of the underlying creative work.

Private and restricted content

CyberVid is not designed to bypass private accounts or authentication controls. Attempting to circumvent access restrictions can create additional legal, contractual and privacy concerns beyond copyright.

When in doubt

Ask the creator or rights holder for permission, keep a record of that permission where appropriate, and make sure it covers your intended use. If the situation has legal or commercial significance, obtain advice suited to your jurisdiction.
